There seems to be a stereotype in the LGBTQ community called “Bitter Queens”. Well we wonder if it can’t be true. Over new years Jeffrey Sankers White Party Puerta Vallarta had thousands of unmasked party goers hide, be secretive and ban photography of the Covid-19 superspreader event. So as the news broke, reported here at Queer News Tonight, the backlash about being outed was notable. A notable new word is circulating called COVIDIOTS, a phrase to pandemic denying LGBTQ people. A group of circuit queens who attended a banned dance party in Mexico are buzzing with anger after being “outed” on social media as dangerously selfish covidiots by the Instagram account @GaysOverCOVID. One of the angry party boys is reportedly a nurse who caught the virus at a different circuit party superspreader event at the beginning of the pandemic and raised tens of thousands of dollars for his recovery on GoFundMe. Organizing under the hashtag #GaysOverKarens, the men offered a $500 “incentive” to expose the account’s owner with the ominous warning, “Let it be known we are coming for them.” Party protector Lan Vu said on Facebook “For so long they have been hiding behind the screen, trying to out fellow gays, making our community as divisive as ever. Seeing how they like to put everybody under pressure, let’s see how they feel like now that the target is on them.” The Instagram account has been taken down after the men repeatedly flagged it as abusive for posting screenshots from photos and videos posted to social media by attendees. Multiple new accounts quickly sprang up to replace the old one as other users vowed to continue the campaign to shame the men willing to gamble other people’s lives so they can do drugs and have sex to the beat of dance music. Mike Schultz, the nurse who made national headlines after spending almost two months in the hospital after catching the virus at the Winter Party circuit party here in Miami earlier this year, has joined forces with the covidiots apparently, as screenshots show the coronavirus survivor egging the queens on. Schultz posted photos of his dramatic weight loss after being hospitalized for weeks on a ventilator and raised over $20,000 toward his recovery from generous supporters online. Screenshots show Schultz’s account responding to Van’s post seeking info on the GaysOverCOVID account owner and sharing another user’s content decrying the inevitable blowback from the community. LGBTQ Nation reports that Schultz shared in the post photo “You fucking bitter queens… always tearing down other gays! Get out of your little gay bubble! At this point… survival of the fittest. It’s life. Sorry.” At Queer News Tonight we have reported on Covid-19 dire effects on the LGBTQ every newscast for the last year. We are the only media in the world that has reported the number of Coronavirus LGBTQ cases and deaths in both the United States and worldwide. So the effects of White Party Puerta Vallarta, including this story, will be followed closely.
