(VIDEO) ACT UP is giving away joints to anyone that shows their vaccination card

ACT UP New York has come up with a novel incentive to get fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. They’ll pay you to show them your filled-out vaccination card. And in return, they’ll give you a free joint. That’s right. A joint for a jab. So far the group has done two pop up events. Act Ups Brandon Cuicchi said  “Joints For Jabs 1 was so successful that we want to continue the program through the summer to encourage vaccination among medicinal and recreational marijuana users and young people. Now that vaccine demand is slowing, it’s clear that vaccines will need to go where people already congregate such as parks and public spaces in order to reach them.” The group reports that they gave away approximately 300 joints. They say they hope to offer walk-up vaccines on-demand at their next popup event.

Mask Burning Rally In ‘Gayest Place On Planet Earth”. Wait, What?

This weekend a Million Mask March to protest Covid-19 restrictions was held.  That is not so unusual.  After all, the LGBTQ community has seen this in places like Idaho, Texas and other very reliable red locations.  But what was unusual is this protest was held in the heart of the Gayest Place On Planet Earth, Ft Lauderdale.  In fact, at the intersection of A1A, Ft Lauderdale’s beach road and the fashionable Las Olas Blvd.  In fact the protest was held on the same corner that Happening Out Television Network broadcast LIVE to the nation the Ft Lauderdale Pride Parade.  The protest included mostly Trump flag waivers and banners and posters that reflected displeasure with Joe Biden.  A feature of the event included no social distancing and open burning of masks.  The million mask march included just a few hundred, very loud, very angry, and very ignorant people.

For The LGBTQ Community, What’s The Risk Of Going Out Without A Mask After The Vaccine?

As more people become vaccinated, the LGBTQ community is wondering about the risks of getting sick with COVID-19. We asked the experts, what’s the risk of going outside without a mask after the vaccine? Their take: The risk of contracting COVID-19 is medium for the first two weeks. Dr. Irfan N. Hafiz, Infectious disease physician and chief medical officer at Northwestern Medicine said “You should still wear a mask even if you’re vaccinated. After two weeks, you definitely have built the immunity you need and definitely is much safer than it was prior.” Katie Cary, assistant vice president of infection prevention for HCA said “If you’re going outside for a walk where you still have some distance between you and anyone else, the risks would still be low if you’re outside. But in a highly crowded area, then the risk would rise”.
